I have to turn it off to reset connections and then NIS starts complaining again. I lose the SMB connection and then nothing happens. Even though I added it to NIS config to allow it to use all local 192.168 IP addresses, it is blocked by the Norton service. Problem is that I use a backup software (GoodSync) that mounts an SMB access point each evening to backup some stuff. If I turn it off, NIS will complain to fix the settings and turn it on. ![]() Now in the Control Panel Network section, there is a service called "Norton Security". I just reformatted my MacBook Pro for a clean Big Sur installation. ![]()
